Medical hair restoration

Although many companies make great claims for various hair restoration products, few have demonstrated long-term results and an effective safety profile. Only two drugs are currently approved to treat hair loss — finasteride (sold under the name Propecia or Proscar) and minoxidil (sold under the name Rogaine). In some patients, these drugs prevent further hair loss and promote new hair growth. Results vary considerably, and the medication should be taken for a year to accurately assess effectiveness. Once the patient stops taking the medication, any benefits will begin to be lost within three to six months.

As with all cosmetic rejuvenation procedures, Dr. Zloty encourages you to discuss your needs and any treatments you are interested in. Only then can we best assess the most effective treatment options.
